bed in the original edition published by the American Avon Books (an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers). In Italy, the novel was published it Novels Mondadori with the title of "A man to conquer" .
Warning: spoilers.
This book has a flaw: too much running around the figure of the infamous Lady Whistledown, the mysterious editor of the gossip sheet Lady Whistledown Society Papers , intriguing and curious about all ton in London. In a sense, come to his unmasking and nail to hang his salacious pen is a liberation not only for you but for us Bridgerton addicts. We loved, but in this fourth novel in the series has a bit 'blurred the fun that we expected to enjoy reading the unexpected romance blossoms between the eternal wallflower (she who makes the parties and Upholstery is destined to a future as a spinster) Penelope Featherington and the most handsome man, charming and beautiful in London, or Bridgerton Colin, who, with his green eyes and smile melts the knees of women of all ages, but it does not knowingly or takes advantage of the situation is so by nature. Indeed, to be honest, Colin in the soul is unhappy with himself and wants to be something more than a beautiful and flawless good guy who everyone loves for his mild-mannered, mischievous and ironic, for his generosity towards Wallflowers as Penelope, who regularly invites to dance (maybe just a little 'spurred on by Lady Violet ...) and most of all because it is a Bridgerton. Colin has in it a worm that causes him to escape from the facility without the purpose of his third son of the rich life of a perfect family, wants to emerge, he wants to make something of his and the pounding from her mother so it's a wife that does not add stimuli need to go to her constantly on the road to Europe. Colin is at home a few weeks and then again, it does not matter if it is Scotland or Cyprus, Italy and Wales: Colin is only happy when it is in London and when the columns of Lady Whistledown appears the description of the suffocating his legendary charm.
This secret anxiety, masked by that wonderful smile on his lips, and unknown to those who are closer and will be a person to whom he had always given attention shoot arising solely from his gentle nature to uncover a Pandora's box and change his life forever.
Julia Quinn is very capable to reunite the pieces of small traces here and there in each of the novels in the series. Nothing is random and it all comes back out, giving a purpose to set forth herein. Through the various events we have known and confiscated thousands of small details, attitudes, characters and events that have created a world in which we can orient and recognize people who have had a very good company with their stories.
In Romancing MISTER BRIDGERTON use the names of the protagonists of other novels and Quinn, of all, a fundamental role is played by age and dreaded Lady Danbury, Countess grandmother who remember the Marquis of Riverdale in How to Marry a Marquis. Lady Danbury Bridgerton reappears throughout the saga, but here is the author of awareness of its strength by Penelope Featherington. One who was, in his first, unsuccessful seasons, the favorite target of the pen of Lady Whistledown salacious, because of his overweight adolescent and the terrible yellow dresses in which forced her mother, now has twenty-eight years and is no longer even considered it ironically. Invisible and is simply a spinster no avail that his line has been streamlined and finally dress appropriately for the color of her complexion and her hair from red tinges.
Penelope is just ... Penelope. His vacuous sisters have managed to marry equally vacuous gentleman, his younger sister Felicity is the only one that gives some intellectual satisfaction, and she has a closer relationship, which is intertwined with their respective best friends: Eloise Bridgerton and Hyacinth. Peers, Penelope, and Eloise is going to a sort of spinster aunts, the first for lack of an alternative, the second choice. Penelope is loved and cuddled by all Bridgerton, who treat it as a member of their clan, and defend the indifference of society. But Penelope, as Colin, was in itself a secret ambition, something that goes beyond the aesthetic and social world in which she is forced to move: the ugly duckling could turn at any moment. It would be enough for someone to give her a little 'confidence in itself or rather convince them to show how she really is: an intelligent woman, bright, sharp and able to see what others can not grasp, with an ironic eye and irresistible . Colin Bridgerton Penelope always think you know, or almost. She was always there on the edge, the sweet and invisible Penelope.
Penelope saw for the first time when Colin was a girl of sixteen and fell in love instantly, madly and without hope. Colin would never have seen.
But now they are both adults and cultivate inner restlessness and despair, which in a sense that they share and, inscrutably, approaches them.
back from one of his trips, Colin lingers a bit 'more and asks, as always polite nice guy, to Penelope to dance. And something snaps in him. A sort of veil gets up from his eyes, slowly, inexorably. Colin Bridgerton, man London's most admired and beloved, look into the eyes of Penelope Featherington ugly duckling and realizes that he sees differently, she is attractive, intriguing, enjoyable, and that he feels the need to know it better, to be his friend, next to it. It is not ability to not like everything appeared clear years ago when, rebelling at the insistence of his mother, had said he would never marry Penelope Featherington, making improvidently heard from the girl, who was injured, though not disillusioned. Penelope has a strong character and fatalistic, forged from the looks of pity or cruel animal that has always surrounded the living rooms and his powers of observation are sharp and accurate the secret weapon with which he always repaid the haughty indifference of most. Too bad they do not know. But it's never too late for those who are tenacious and intelligent. In the romances is never too late, period.
So Colin Bridgerton discover the soul of Penelope and they fall in love. So Penelope Featherington remain appalled at the very essence of Colin and also learns to love his party less than perfect and sunny. Penelope's triumph will not only be married and adored by his hero, but will go much further. And thanks to you, Colin finds the courage to realize their dreams. Help each other to get out there, challenging the idea that the distorted and superficial others have them, overcome their fears and insecurities, taking his hand, knowing, loving.
The finish with a bang redeems a bit 'stagnation of the last part of the book.
Due to the fact that I came to read Julia Quinn when all his more recent novels had been published by Mondadori , I was forced to obtain them in the original edition. This is allowing me doubly appreciate his talent for writing brilliant and accurate. Even those who mistakenly despises romance, can not, in my opinion ignore objectively cleaning and stylistic ability of this author, who has a true gift for drama and humor to create delicious and appealing characters. Julia Quinn's class and her novels are so many tasty and red cherries on the cake of historical romances of the American school.
